There are several ways I can help both short- and long-term. Each agency is unique, and while many share common challenges, my specific approach is customized to the agency’s circumstances and appetite for growth. I sign an NDA; everything we do is your property and remains strictly confidential.

I engage as a fractional business development leader for most of my clients. I work on a retainer, dedicating approximately 20 hours per week to do everything we agree on to get to market within the first 60 days. I am a member of your agency team under your logo and handle all the tasks necessary to stand up your business development program and running it.

Typically, that includes defining/refining agency positioning, differentiation and value proposition, prospect research and list building, in and outbound prospecting, introductory meetings, relationship building, and everything necessary to identify, engage, and move relationships to a project, proposal, pitch, or no thank you. My cost as your fractional business development lead is about the same as hiring a mid-level BD person with much more experience and no overhead.

My retainer is month-to-month, so there is no long-term commitment. Whenever you feel confident and have the team in place, you can take it over, and I fade out. Some agencies go for six months, while others continue for years. If either of us is unhappy with what we are doing, we can end the relationship with 30 days’ notice.

If you have a business development person or team, I can help them reset their business development plan and coach them to execute more successfully. I start with an audit of your program and people, followed by recommendations for improvement and change. I develop an action plan and timeline for your people with milestones and accountabilities. I lead them through the planning and executing phases and remain available for whatever ongoing needs come up.

My engagement is a scope of work and associated hours. There is no long-term commitment. When your team feels confident in the plan and execution, I fade out but remain available for whatever ongoing needs arise. Typically, the process takes from one to three months.

If you have a business development person or team and want to scale your prospecting, I offer a subscription to my Agency Prospecting Platform built on Constant Contact’s Lead Gen & CRM platform (formerly SharpSpring marketing automation system). With it, you can scale and extend your prospecting reach while automating the tasks that take high-value time away from researching, nurturing, and closing the opportunities that need your full attention.

I set it up for you, integrate it into your new business process, advise you on how to get the most from it and train your team how they want to use it so there is a minimal learning curve to get it up and running. I remain available for troubleshooting, problem-solving, and sharing my experience using the platform solely for agency new business. And, if you want to become a reseller of the platform to your clients, you can easily upgrade to a Partner plan.

The platform is a monthly subscription (much less than other competing products) and a one-time setup fee. The subscription is month-to-month, so there is no long-term commitment. The subscription includes my time for setup, training, and support. The platform allows unlimited users, more contacts and emails than you will ever use, and free 24/7 support.

I offer services for any part of the business development process; program management, strategy development, agency positioning, list building, content, email writing, staffing, fractional business development, whatever you need. I’ll write a scope of work and cost based on our discussion of your needs.
